New cotton all the way from Japan!

We're DELIGHTED to have received another shipment of fabulous Japanese fabrics! This cotton can't be beat. It's extraordinarily soft, dense, and easy to sew. Pick up some washed canvas for a hardy work shirt, or use one of the large-scale polka dot prints in a super-fluffy gathered skirt!

These two lawns would make fabulous shirts, too! I'm especially fond of the salt-shrunk lawn-- it's made using a process called enshuku, where a saltwater solution is selectively applied to parts of the fabric to reduce fiber density.

And then there's the always-special Nani Iro, which proved difficult to photograph. It's a light lavender-gray cotton double gauze with warm sunset tones along the selvedge. Light as a feather and just as lovely!

Are you a morning person? Maybe you're a bartender, a server, or someone else who works late shifts. Could be that evenings are just plain exhausting between picking up the kids and making dinner. We've got conflicts too! That's why we're adding another Beginning Sewing class for the early birds. It starts at 10AM this Friday, 9/6! It's the perfect time to grab your latte and a scone at Colossal, show up feeling perky, and LEARN TO SEW!
