Treadle Make Tuesday![]() Every Tuesday we share projects from Treadle Yard Goods employees (a.k.a. The Treadlettes) and our customers and fans! This week's make comes from Treadlette Elizabeth. Last summer she sewed a wedding dress for her friend Sarah. Sarah was ready with sketches and a vision for her dress: lots of floaty dark tulle over a gown of pale lavender, with just a little sparkle. A fitted, figure-flattering bodice with loads of swishy skirt and just a little floof! This was a big project that took multiple fittings and tweaks to get just right. A wedding dress always feels pretty high stakes, even when it's non-traditional. See more pictures at the blog post! |

Sew Good Goods Event Sew with us February 7! We're making baby blankets for the Ruth Gaylord Hospital in Uganda. Register here! The Ruth Gaylord Hospital Maganjo is a nonprofit hospital in Uganda that opened in 2013 and named after a retired Minneapolis school teacher. It is preparing to celebrate its 10-year anniversary in February. Though it has evolved into a general hospital comprehensive in scope and this year had nearly 50,000 patient visits, its principal focus remains maternal and pediatric care. Last year the hospital assisted in 450 deliveries. MISSION: to provide self-sustaining, affordable and equitable community-based health care services through a dedicated and professional workforce. |

Sew Good Goods and its founders, Birdie and Judy, have a relationship with the hospital that spans many years- from volunteering in the very early stages of development, through the dedication in 2013. Judy attended the event in Kampala with Ruth, in whose honor the hospital was named, and they brought with them 50 handmade pillowcases for the hospital's grand opening. Sew Good Goods has also sent blankets with travelers to Uganda, and recently representatives of the hospital asked about the possibility of more newborn blankets in this, the 10-year anniversary of the hospital's opening. Thank you to all those who sewed blankets this month, and thank you in advance to those who will take part in the February 7 sewing collaboration. Your efforts and giving spirit are gifts to so many! The women who deliver at the hospital typically have little in the way of personal possessions, and the blankets have been very well-received and appreciated. |
