Are you sharing your makes?

State Fair is coming!

Are you a die-hard fair-goer?

Fried food on a stick is great, but obviously the highlight of the fair for us sewing types is the Creative Activities building!

You would not BELIEVE how many separate categories there are for every kind of craft. There are 70 different prize categories for just sewn garments!

So, what are you going to enter?

We just want you to know the stuff you sew IS good enough!

It's really not about winning anyway. Sure, winning is fun, and there are plenty of ribbons! But the best aspect is really the community show-and-tell.

At right we've pictured some of our favorite Treadle makes from years past. It is so much fun to see our fabrics at the fair!

The deadline to register is August 9!

Check out the State Fair's registration page here for more info!

Silk Charmeuse

100% silk charmeuse is the most touchable, delicious fabric ever!

And a little goes a long way - you can make a dreamy pillowcase with as little as 2/3 of a yard.

These are small cuts, meaning we don't have much yardage available, so grab them now!

Polka Dots

A classic polka dot never goes out of style. Check out these dotty new fabrics!

New in Shirting

Are you a floral person or a stripes person?

You might love both, but you probably know that if you had to choose, there's just one that your heart belongs to.

Fortunately, whichever camp you're in, we've got you covered!

Friday Fun Fact!

Does your selvage pull in when you're laying out fabric?

This is a common annoyance with knits, but it can happen with wovens too. Fortunately there's an easy fix.

If you're having a hard time making your fabric lay flat, check the selvage. Are wrinkles leaning in toward the selvage like in the top photo?

Grab your scissors and start making snips! A short snip is all you need - about half an inch in. Make snips every half inch along the entire selvage.

Use the TIPS of your scissors for this! No need to use the whole blade and risk an accidental big chop.

After you've snipped, your fabric should lay flat. Check out the difference in the bottom photo!
