Wool Boucle

These new designer wool boucle coatings in the store are a delightful play of color and texture! Designer pieces like these are always such a fun find for us - we snap them up whenever we can!

With cold weather coming, it's time to start sewing your new winter wraps. And nothing helps you beat the grey midwinter blahs like a pretty, colorful, cheerful coat!

Friday Fun Fact!

Which thread is right for your project?

At Treadle, we carry two varieties of high-quality Metrosene thread: 100% Polyester and 100% Cotton. They're both great, all-purpose threads, but which one is right for which fabric?

Cotton is a beautiful thread that's a bit plumper and shows up well for topstitching. Choose cotton when sewing wovens like cotton broadcloth, linen, rayon, wool, and silk. It's particularly good for delicates! Hand sewing is also much easier when you use cotton thread.

Polyester is ideal for sewing knits; its extra strength and slight stretch help you sew successful stretchy seams. It's also a great choice any time you need a little extra strength, such as tote bags, home decor, and garments with heavy wear.

Avoid polyester for silk and delicates; this tough thread can actually cut into the fibers of your fabric! Poly is also not ideal for hand sewing as it tends to tangle and shred.

You can tell Metrosene Poly and Cotton threads apart by the spool color!

Purple spool: Cotton

Red spool: Polyester
