Classes coming up! Plus Saturday Fashion Sewing Club!


Fashion Sewing Club is this Saturday, October 12!

Fashion Sewing Club is a monthly meeting featuring garments, pattern modification and review, and the latest news in the sewing world. You will be provided with tips, techniques and new ideas that are sure to inspire you. Current fashion, chic wear, proper fit, children’s wear and home dec are just some of the topics we will explore.

Whether you are an experienced sewist or just beginning – this club is for you! Bring show and tell for a chance to win a door prize.

Club meets every second Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and second Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $10 (your first meeting is free) and you will receive 10% off regularly priced fabrics that day.

 FIT WORKSHOP

Need some help with fit? Or are you taking our Wardrobe Capsule classes and need catch-up time or more assistance? Bring your muslin mock-up readymade to maximize your class time, or let us help you choose patterns and sizing.

Prerequisite: Make It Fit class or other experience altering patterns

   BEAUTIFUL SEAMS AND HEMS

Wonky hems and fraying seam allowances make your garment look more homemade than handmade. Elevate your sewing with these vital finishing steps. Learn to sew baby hems for sheers, hand blind hems, separate hem facings, French seams, flat-felled seams, bias-bound edges, and so much more! Make your garments sturdy and beautiful inside and out!

 PILLOWS & CUSHIONS - THE BASICS AND MORE

Pillows are a fabulous and affordable way to add punch to your decor and adding a new chair cushion ups the decorating ante. Learn the sewing techniques you need to know to duplicate the expensive decorator pillows and cushions you’ve been drooling over. From making your own piping to inserting a lapped upholstery zipper, you’ll discover just how easy it is to give your furniture a whole new look.

CONTINUING ON - APPAREL SEWING IN THE REAL WORLD

What do you want to sew? How do you decide if it will work? What challenge do you have? The pattern instructions read like Latin; you like this bodice, but that skirt; you just can't get that technique. Whether you are relatively new to sewing, coming back to it after time away, or an avid fan who wants to stretch your skills, this is the place. Learn tips, tricks, and techniques to improve your sewing skills so you can sew for the fun of it. Construct a garment of your choice, keeping in mind that you want to challenge yourself, but not cry. Class will include technique demonstration as well as individual sewing time; some sewing outside of class may be required depending on complexity of project chosen.
