WORKROOM SOCIAL
Bring your sewing project and work on it in the company of other sewists. We will help you with pattern and fabric choice, fit issues and construction techniques. This class is meant to add a social component to a solitary endeavor and is priced accordingly. This is also a great place for you to take what you learned in Basic Sergery and apply it as you complete a garment (when to use the serger and when to use your sewing machine). If you feel your skill level needs more time and attention, please sign up for Beginning Sewing or Basic Sergery.
Come as often as you like - let’s get to know each other and get things done!
Skill level: Advanced Beginner Fee: $15 per 3-hour session Instructor: Material Girls Debbie & Kristin
Tuesday 1:00 – 4:00 February 13

BASIC ROMAN SHADE
Learn to make one fully lined, board-mounted roman shade. Bring in your window dimensions and the first class we’ll design the shades, cut out the fabric and lining and, if time allows, begin sewing. The following class will consist of assembling the shade and board mounting it. You’ll go home with a fabulous decorator shade and be eager to make more. Some sewing outside of class may be required.
Skill Level: Intermediate Fee: $85.00 Instructor: Melissa Sternal
Friday 12:30 - 4:30 February 16, 23
PATTERN MASHUPS
Create your ideal designs! This simple take on customizing sewing patterns combines alterations with a little pattern drafting. Bring some ideas and sketches, choose up to three patterns, then learn how to combine and adjust for your ideal style. Note: this class focuses on pattern work. No sewing will be done in class.
Skill Level: Intermediate Fee: $30 Instructor: Elizabeth Merritt
Saturday 2:00 – 5:00 February 17
SEW FOR YOUR LIFE
Choose the garments you want to sew for your lifestyle and then determine which patterns will serve you well, based on figure type, time constraints and fabric preferences. Sew a core wardrobe dealing with your fit issues and then move on to create new versions of those pieces. We recommend a long sleeved tee, jacket-knit or woven and pant or skirt and have suggested patterns based on our experience sewing them but you are not limited to them. Class time will be devoted to pattern and fabric choices and fit issues. Some cutting out and sewing will be done. We encourage you to come to Workroom Social classes if you’d like more help and sewing instruction.
Skill Level: All Fee: $40 per session Instructor: Material Girls Debbie & Kristin
