News and Updates

WELCOME SPRING!

Our temperatures are inching slowly upward and with them our spirits. We have been receiving new spring fabrics every day and we are very excited to show them to you. Recent arrivals include colorful linen prints, soft summery knits, drapey cotton lawns and voiles and fun batiks. The pattern books are loaded with cute styles for warm weather garments. Stop by and let us show you the latest arrivals.

Amy Butler's new fabric collection, Alchemy, is on the way to Treadle. Read on below for information about the Alchemy Trunk Show which will be on display at Treadle from May 15 through June 2.

We invite you to join the Material Girls for Fashion Sewing Club. Debbie and Kristin are creative dynamos and present a new and inspiring program each month as they share the latest and greatest in patterns, sewing techniques and trends. Bring show and tell to share. Attendees enjoy a 10% discount on regularly priced fabric on club days. Fashion sewing club meets on the second Tuesday and Saturday of each month in Treadle 2 at 58 South Hamline Avenue. (Just around the corner from Treadle.) Cost is $10.00, payable directly to the Material Girls.

Next club meetings are on Saturday, May 11 and Tuesday, May 14.

Treadle Yard Goods Sponsors Goldstein Museum of Design Exhibition on Sustainable Fashion

The juried exhibition Redefining, Redesigning Fashion: Designs for Sustainability reveals the exciting potential for creative recycling, repurposing, and reclaiming to reshape fashion design in the future.
The clothing designs featured range from whimsical (a dress made from colorful pop-top tabs), to sophisticated and wearable (a little black dress made from one piece of cloth with no cutting or waste).
“We sought a partnership with Treadle Yard Goods for this exhibition because Treadle has been fostering creativity in sewing since 1976. It’s a great match,” says Goldstein director Lin Nelson-Mayson.
Exhibition title: Redefining, Redesigning Fashion: Designs for Sustainability
Duration of exhibition: January 19 through May 26, 2013
Where: Goldstein Museum of Design, St. Paul Campus of U of Minnesota, McNeal Hall, 1985 Buford Avenue
